Today J and I met up for a run in Caumsett State Park. We had run at Caumsett once before, the first week of training. I distinctly remember the places that I had to stop to take breaks because I just could not go on any longer. Today, I blew past all of those places in the first round. Sunday is our long run day, and our long run was 4 miles. The loop we do is only 2.7 miles, so we have to go around more than once. I was counting all of my small victories along the way. The lack of side cramps, no need for walking breaks, and keeping up with J for the first 3 miles. Before I knew it, I had done almost the whole loop twice just running!! J had the mileage on her phone, and she outran me toward the end. I did end up walking some, so I can’t be sure that I ran the whole 5.2. I did, however, only take one walking break for about 3 minutes. J ran the whole thing!! I am so proud of us! W was in the stroller cheering us along the whole way, the best way his little 10 month old self knew how.
I was so proud of us, but completely exhausted and so hungry for the rest of the day. I also have a strange little pain in my hip. I iced it, because I am not quite sure what else to do but ice and rest. I think the pain is a result of wearing less supportive sneakers than I usually do. I didn’t have my regular pair with me today. I am going to cross train tomorrow and Tuesday. J and I are running a 5K on Wednesday night, so I want to be fresh.
I leave for Europe on Friday! Tomorrow I am going to start some last minute shopping and a little early packing. We fly into Amsterdam on Friday night and then straight over to Dublin. We return to tour Amsterdam properly later on in the trip. I can’t wait!
